From Wednesday, June 4, to Friday, June 6, 2025, we will engage in a three-day period of Prayer and Fasting, starting at 5:00 AM and concluding at 5:00 PM each day.
The theme will be "It is Well" which is taken from 2 Kings 4:26, “ 2 Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well:”
The Shunammite woman declared “It is Well” in response to a question about her well-being, specifically after her son died.  She expressed this sentiment even in the face of immense personal loss, demonstrating her faith and trust in God.  While things weren’t well in that moment, she had
As believers, we will encounter testing and trials that will try the very fabric of our being.  During times of trial, we must remain resolute in our stance, despite our present circumstances.  The Shunammite woman's situation was genuine; this was her only son, who had come into being because of her care for Elisha, the prophet of God.  Elisha was concerned about what he could do for the Shunammite woman because of her hospitality.  The woman did not personally make a request Elisha but instead Gehazi (Elisha's servant) told the Prophet that the woman had no child and her husband was old (2 Kings 4:16). Elisha made a declaration “About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son”.  We know that Elisha had no power to perform anything without a mighty move of God.  As was declared, miraculously, the woman conceived and bore a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, '...according to the time of life”.   However, tragedy struck, and the child who was prophesied into being experienced a head trauma and died.
The woman went back to the source, Elisha. She did not desire an audience with her physician, husband, or Gehazi.  She only wanted an audience with the prophet of God. She asked Elisha, "Did I desire a son of my Lord?" "Did I not say, Do not deceive me?" This woman poured out her complaint to the man of God, and we see that restoration took place.
Saints, many times we face life's challenges and forget to turn back to our true source - God. In those moments, we may become discouraged, bitter, or even drift away from Him. However, the same God who came through for the Shunammite woman remains alive and present today. He is waiting for us to demonstrate unwavering faith, even during our most difficult circumstances.
If we extend our faith as seen in this passage of scripture, our immutable (never changing), never failing, present God will meet our needs according to His riches in glory. We must trust Him when we can’t trace Him. We are reminded in St. Matthew 17:20 “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you”.
We must return to our true source - Jesus Christ- the source of our joy, strength, hope, laughter, and inspiration. When we place our trust in Him to handle every situation we face, we can confidently declare, “It is well,” with full assurance in our hearts.
