SINS OF INTEMPERANCE – Drunkenness and Revellings.
WORK # 17: Revellings
Throughout Scripture, God clearly distinguishes between behaviors that honor Him and those that gratify our sinful nature. Revellings represents one of the most seductive, yet destructive works of the flesh.
Biblical Definition: The word translated as “revellings” comes from theGreek term komos, which refers to wild, excessive partying often linked to drunken processions and celebrations. These parties are characterized by a lack of restraint, loud music, dancing, heavy feasting, and drinking, usually ending in lewd and immoral behavior.
Biblical Context on Revellings
Scripture never mentions revellings in isolation, but always in connection with other destructive behaviors:
~“ 3  For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries” – 1 Peter 4:3.
~“Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying”  Romans 13:13.
