Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (St. Matthew 11:28).
On Wednesdays, August 12, 2026, August 19, 2026 and August 26, 2026, we will be engaging in our once weekly Prayer and Fasting. Our goal is to be in fasting each Wednesday from 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
The central theme will be: “SHINE” St. Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”.
Saints, though the present condition of our world may appear dark and hopeless, we serve a God who continues to illuminate the earth with His unchanging and unwavering love for humanity. His sacrificial act on Calvary’s cross forever declares His unconditional love for His creation.
St. John 8:12 records Jesus proclaiming, “I am the light of the world,” assuring us that all who follow Him will not walk in darkness but will possess the light of life. In calling Himself the light of the world, Jesus reveals Himself as the ultimate source of truth, salvation, and divine guidance.
Psalms 119:105 reminds us that “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path,” offering daily direction and clarity for every step we take. Apart from Him, our world remains dark, empty, and without hope - but in Him, light breaks forth, and life is restored.
St. Matthew 5:14–16 also reminds us of who we are and how we are called to live. We are called to be light, and as carriers of that light, we must ensure that we are illuminating our world for the Lord Jesus Christ. In Scripture, light is a powerful symbol of God’s presence, truth, and holiness. It represents life and goodness in direct contrast to darkness and sin.
It is imperative that we reflect His character in all that we do. Some of the attributes of Christ include love, compassion, humility, and forgiveness. His love was the method He used to draw us to Himself. Therefore, if we desire to win our world for Him, we must also demonstrate love to those within our sphere of influence.
It is equally important for us to share our testimony with those who are not saved. We cannot live pious or distant lives; people need to know that we were once flawed but are now saved by grace. People are drawn to real individuals with real stories of salvation, so tell them your story! We must show compassion to those who are unsaved and reach them with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must be committed to sharing the Word of God with them.
Our lives must also reflect what we speak. We must ensure that we are living in such a way that those around us can clearly see that Christ resides within us. I truly believe that the world is searching for someone greater than themselves. Many have tried countless things in pursuit of peace, hope, and joy, yet they remain unfulfilled. However, you and I know a God who provides peace that surpasses all human understanding. He gives hope to the hopeless and joy unspeakable and full of glory to those who are burdened with sadness.
As believers, we possess what the world desperately needs, and therefore we must show forth the righteousness of Christ as we live out our Christianity. We cannot afford to exhibit an attitude of despair, because the Life-Giver resides within us. We have been given the assurance that if we remain faithful, a crown of life awaits us.
Second Corinthians 4:3-4 reminds us: “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” We do not want to be among those who fail to reflect the light of Jesus in their daily living. The enemy’s plan is to keep people in darkness, while Jesus offers humanity freedom, light, and - most importantly - eternal life.
As we embark on these three days of fasting and prayer, let us allow our light to shine into the darkest corners of this world, so that men and women may come to the knowledge of our great God and Savior.
Wednesday August 12, 2026: Prayer Focus: Pray that we will Shine as light in a dark world:
Scriptures: (5am – 2 Corinthians 4:1-6), (12pm – St. Matthew 5:1-16) and (8pm – Colossians 3:1-17).
~ That we will reflect Jesus Christ in our thoughts, words, attitudes and actions.
~ That we will allow the Lord to purify our hearts, removing anything that would dim the light of Christ in our lives.
~ That God will open opportunities for us to share the gospel with boldness, wisdom and love.
~ That we will walk in humility, so nothing will hinder our witness.
~ That our lives will shine brightly in a world filled with darkness so that others may see the hope found in Christ.
Wednesday August 19, 2026: Pray that our leaders will walk in the light of Christ:
Scriptures: (5am – Titus 2:1-12), (12pm – Ephesians 5:1-16) and (8pm – 2 Corinthians 6).
~ That our leaders will walk as light daily, living lives of holiness, integrity, and obedience that glorify God.
~ That our leaders will shine as godly examples reflecting the character of Christ so that others will be drawn to you.
~ That the Lord will grant our leaders boldness to preach the word faithfully without compromise, bringing light to those in darkness.
~ That our leaders will boldly proclaim God’s truth.
~ That the Lord will grant our leaders wisdom, discernment, strength, and courage to fulfill their calling.
Wednesday August 26, 2026: Pray that the people in our community will open their hearts to receive the light of Jesus Christ:
Scriptures: (5am – St. Luke 11:33-36), (12 pm – John 3:1 - 21) and (8pm St. Matthew 16:24-27).
~ That God will shine His light into the hearts of our unsaved community and remove their spiritual blindness.
~ That the Lord will open the eyes of those who are lost, so that they may turn from darkness to light.
~ That the Lord will remove any hurt, doubt, or hard walls in the minds of our unsaved community so they can feel His gentle touch.
~ That our unsaved community will respond to the pull of God on their lives and recognize their need for a savior.
~ Believers in the areas receive the courage and right words to share their faith boldly and lovingly.
